Tata Group of Companies

The "Father Of Indian Industry" Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and his family were a part of the minority group of Zoroastrians, or Parsees, who came to India fleeing the persecution of Zoroastrians in Iran. Founded in 1868, the Tata Group of Companies is one of India’s oldest business empires. It is operating in more than 100 countries across six continents with 2,46,000 employees. The company has a shareholder base of over two million and market capitalization of over $57.7 billion.

Ratan Naval Tata is an Indian industrialist, philanthropist, and a former chairman of Tata Sons. He continues to head its charitable trusts. He is a scion of the Tata family, and great-grandson of Jamsetji Tata, the founder of Tata Group. During Ratan Tata's chairmanship of 21 years, revenues grew over 40 times, and profit, over 50 times. Ratan Tata's net worth never crosses the $1 billion mark.
